A prominent king of Ancient Babylon (605-552 bc) that was in rule during the time of Israeli captivity. He was given a dream by God in which he saw the kingdoms to come after his rule until the second coming of Jesus Christ. He is commonly known for attempting to punish the three Hebrew boys, Hananiah (Shadrach), Mishael (Meshach) and Azariah (Abednego), by throwing them into a fiery furnace after they wouldn’t bow down to a golden statue (Dan 3:8-20). He was also humbled by God when he was caused to live like an animal for 7 years. He wrote the 4th Chapter of Daniel where he recounts this story.
